Senior Companion Program

Senior Companions Program

The Senior Companion Program offers volunteer opportunities for low-income people aged 60 and older living in Kent County. The Senior Companion volunteers provide person-to-person, non-medical support and companionship to other older adults with Alzheimer’s disease, chronic mental illness, and developmental disabilities, as well as the physically frail and homebound.

What We Offer

Senior Companions serve 20 hours each week. On a daily basis, Senior Companions can be found doing what friends do for friends -- personal visits to ease loneliness, provide companionship, conversation, socialization, emotional support, and assistance with the activities of daily living, such as shopping, light housekeeping, and cooking.
