Giving Program
Partnering with Gerontology Network to make lifesaving differences in the lives of older adults and their families.
Benefits of Giving
Everyone who makes a gift to the Giving Program:
- has the satisfaction of supporting a top-quality older adult and family service provider...
- receives the Gerontology Network Newsletter throughout the year, and...
- receives recognition in the Gerontology Network Annual Report.
Why is my Gift Important?
The population in Michigan is getting older and living longer. In 1990, persons 65 years of age and older numbered about 1.1 million. They represented 11.9% of the state population.
In Kent County, the population change for persons 64 years of age and older went from 18.9% in 1980 to 21.3% in 1990. By the year 2020, there will be an estimated 1.7 million older Michiganians, a 56% increase over 1990. It is projected that over 1 in 6 Michiganians will be over 65 in 2020.
As state and federal funds for older adult programs continue to decline, gifts from friends are more important than ever before. Only through continued support this year and for many years to come will Gerontology Network maintain and strengthen its programs for older adults and their families.
Company Matching Gifts?
Many companies encourage their employees to contribute to not-for-profit organizations like Gerontology Network, and match their gifts. If your company has a matching gift program, you can take advantage of this by filling out the form provided by the human resources or personnel office of your company. All matched gifts are credited to your individual gift record.
